Straight from the paddock
BucketMate is made by an Aussie Farmer for Aussie Farmers built on strong Australian Family values
"All I want is customers to be amazed at how simple and easy BucketMate works and how much time it saves. I designed this innovation to make farming easier and safer."
Patrick O'Brien
the farmer that made it happen
BucketMate was born in the long, dusty hours of the paddock, with an Australian farmer who had spent decades sitting in the seat of a tractor, watching the same problem unfold day after day beneath a wide New South Wales sky.
Raised on 2,400 acres outside Forbes, where farming jobs were woven into each day, Patrick O'Brien spent more than fifty years moving between sheep, cattle, crops and big hay runs, learning that it’s never the big jobs that wear a farmer down, but the small ones that chip away at the day.
A pallet here, a bale there, a gate needing a quick fix, each meant to be minutes work, yet every time it meant killing the engine, climbing down from the tractor and wrestling the stubborn 4-in-1 bucket off by hand, turning half an hour into a morning and stealing hours from an already busy day.
Out across the fence lines, beyond his own paddocks, Patrick saw that this problem was a shared burden among farmers everywhere. Constant interchanges of heavy, non-portable implements forced the loader to leave the job site, return to the shed for a small job, then reverse the process again, using up valuable time. BucketMate’s portable design helps maintain productivity.
A practical Australian Solution
After decades in the tractor seat wasting time on idle tasks, Patrick asked the question:
“Instead of removing the bucket every time a job appeared, why not make the bucket itself capable of doing more?”
Patrick started building a solution, sketching and designing in the back of his shed. What emerged was a simple portable attachment that slips into the jaws of a 4-in-1 bucket and transforms it into a versatile tool in seconds.
Designed, tested and refined on real farms under real working conditions, BucketMate is tough, purposeful and simple, built to match the realities of Australian landscapes rather than the assumptions of an office drawing board.
In many ways BucketMate reflects the man who created it: practical, thoughtful and shaped by the land that raised him.
A farmer’s solution, built by an Australian farmer, for Australian farmers, who understand that the best ideas are often the ones that make a hard day’s work just a little bit easier.
"BucketMate reflects Patrick’s commitment to quality, strength and practical performance. It is a durable, tool-free solution engineered to help farmers do more with the machinery they already own."
The Design Process
The first ideas behind BucketMate were simple, but like any good piece of farm equipment, the design had to prove itself in the real world.
Early prototypes used a wide flat plate design. On some buckets it worked well, but on others it revealed a problem common to many 4-in-1 buckets: the jaws don’t always close perfectly level and some buckets have gaps.
That meant the design had to evolve.
Through repeated testing and refinement, the system was redesigned so that the attachment self-levels under load and clamps hydraulically using the bucket’s own power. Instead of relying on perfect bucket alignment, BucketMate adapts to the machine it’s working with.
The result is a portable attachment that drops straight into the jaws of the bucket and locks firmly in place using hydraulic pressure. No tools. No complicated setup. Just plug, pin, close the bucket and get back to work.
The BucketMate is a design shaped by real use: simple, strong and built to work in the paddock.
WHY FARMERS ARE TURNING TO BUCKETMATE
In practical terms, one BucketMate can handle many of the tasks usually spread across several attachments. Pallet forks, hay spears, jib lifting, towing trailers or handling awkward loads like pipes and timber can all be done using the same system.
That means more shed space and fewer implements to purchase, all while making your loader more capable. Jobs that once required swapping attachments become quick, straightforward tasks done without ever removing the bucket.
Most importantly, BucketMate was built on strong Australian Family values.
Do it right. Do it once. Keep your bucket on.
